Scope of application
Amide nucleating agents are mainly used in the field of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) modification, specific applications include:
. Packaging materials: such as beverage bottles, food containers, etc., to improve transparency and mechanical strength.
. Fibers and films: to improve the crystallization rate and thermal stability of fibers, and enhance the tear resistance of films.
. Engineering plastics: for automotive parts, electronic components, etc., to improve heat resistance and dimensional stability.
. Rapid crystallization demand scenarios: such as injection molding products, shorten production cycle.
Function and purpose
. Accelerated crystallization rate: shorten the cooling time of PET processing, improve production efficiency.
. Refinement of crystal size: Improve material transparency (reduce light scattering) and surface finish.
. Enhance Mechanical Properties: Improve hardness, rigidity and heat resistance by increasing crystallinity.
. Optimize processing performance: Reduce the sensitivity of the
processing temperature window and reduce warpage and deformation of products.
Structure
The structure of amide nucleating agents mainly contains:
· Amide bond (-CONH-): provides polarity and interacts with the PET molecular chain.
· Alkyl chains or aromatic rings: e.g. long chain alkyl groups (C18) enhance compatibility with PET, aromatic rings (e.g. benzene rings) provide rigid
nucleation sites.
· Symmetric structures: e.g. bis-amides (N,N'-ethylene bis-stearamide, EBS) or terephthalamide derivatives that promote ordering.
. Functionalized groups: e.g. hydroxyl, carboxyl, etc. to enhance interfacial bonding with PET.
