rPET (Recycled PET)

Source: Mainly from recycled beverage bottles.

Target applications: Fibers (clothing, carpet, filler cotton), sheets/plates (non-food contact packaging, stationery), strapping bands, injection molded parts (non-critical structural parts), bottle to bottle (B2B, requiring food grade certification and high level of purification).

Adaptation additives and functions:

Epoxy chain extender: Core additive! It repairs molecular chain breaks caused during cleaning and melting processes, significantly enhancing characteristic viscosity, melt strength, and mechanical properties (tensile and impact). This enables rPET to meet processing requirements for spinning, sheet production, injection molding, and other applications, approaching or even matching the performance of virgin material. It is key to maximizing rPET's value-added utilization.

Hydrolysis Inhibitor (Carbodiimide): Core additive! rPET undergoes multiple thermal cycles and potential hydrolysis, with high carboxyl content that makes it prone to degradation during subsequent processing and use. It is essential to add a hydrolysis inhibitor to block auto-catalysis, ensuring long-term stability in later processing (especially drying processes) and usage, preventing material embrittlement. This is particularly critical for fiber applications and outdoor environments.

Nucleating agent: (rPET for injection molding, sheet) Accelerate crystallization speed, shorten molding cycle, improve heat resistance and dimensional stability, and improve product quality.

Lubricating masterbatch: (spinning, extrusion) Improve flow, reduce the frequency of filter screen replacement, improve yield and fiber/ sheet surface quality.

Toughening masterbatch: (for applications requiring high toughness) to compensate for the loss of impact toughness of rPET.

Aging resistant masterbatch: (for outdoor application of rPET products) Resist further degradation of rPET by ultraviolet light (may be more sensitive than virgin PET), and prevent yellowing and embrittlement.
