PBAT (polybutylene adipate)

Application: film (ground film, packaging bag, express bag), injection molding products (tableware, toys), foaming materials, extrusion coating.

Adaptation additives and functions:

Epoxy Chain Extender: A Critical Additive! PBAT exhibits low melt strength, a narrow processing window, and susceptibility to degradation during processing (ester exchange and hydrolysis). Epoxy chain extenders effectively repair degraded chains, significantly enhancing melt strength, characteristic viscosity, and melt elasticity. They improve blow film stability (reducing breakage), ensure uniform foaming ratio and coating uniformity, while elevating final mechanical properties (strength and toughness).

Nucleating agent: (Note: injection molding products, improve heat resistance) promote crystallization, improve crystallinity/crystallization temperature, shorten the molding cycle, and improve the heat resistance (prevent thermal deformation) and rigidity of products.

Lubricating masterbatch: (blow molding, extrusion) Improve processing fluidity, reduce torque and energy consumption, reduce precipitation, improve the smoothness and opening of the surface of the film/coating.

Hydrolytic inhibitors (carbodiimide): Use with caution! Although it can improve short-term durability, it may significantly delay the biodegradation process, contrary to the original intention of the material. It is only applicable to the scenarios where the service life is specially extended and the subsequent industrial composting can be guaranteed (strict evaluation is required).

toughening masterbatch: (high toughness requirements) Add toughening for applications requiring high toughness (e.g. puncture resistant mulch film, crash-resistant tableware).

Anti-aging masterbatch: (to control the degradation rate) Mainly used to adjust the outdoor service life (such as mulch film), providing sufficient light/thermal stability before reaching the predetermined service time, and then controlled degradation. Stability and degradation need to be balanced.
