PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates, various types)
Application scenarios: high-end packaging, medical devices (implants, drug carriers), agricultural products, cosmetic microbeads, 3D printing.
Appropriate additives and functions: (There are many kinds of PHA with different properties, which need to be analyzed specifically)
Toughening masterbatch: (partially brittle PHA) Improve impact toughness and flexibility, expand the application range.
Nucleating agent: (to improve crystallization rate/heat resistance) effective for some crystalline PHA (such as PHB, PHBV), can improve the crystallization rate and heat resistance.
Chain extender (epoxy): (repair degradation, regulate rheology) May be used to repair processing degradation or regulate melt rheological properties to meet specific processing requirements (such as blow film, spinning).
Lubricating masterbatch: (improve processing) reduce melt viscosity and improve processing performance.
Water-hydrolyzing agents (carbodiimides): usually not applicable! They interfere with their biodegradability.
Anti-aging masterbatch: (Stable storage/transport) Prevent thermal oxidative aging before storage and processing. The effect on degradation rate needs to be evaluated.
